Paranormal News of the Week
Neolithic Labyrinth Found in Denmark

A large, puzzling labyrinth from the Neolithic period was recently discovered in Denmark during a trial archaeological excavation in an area where a sports arena will be built.

Found at Stevns, Norway, located some 40 miles from Copenhagen, the structure is an oval palisade enclosure made by five rows of posts covering about 60,000 square feet.

“Since 2013, rescue archaeology related to large-scale development of infrastructure has allowed us to locate a number of features, but we very rarely get the opportunity to reveal such a big part of a palisade enclosure,” Pernille Rohde Sloth, the archaeologist from the Museum Southeast Denmark who led the excavation, told Seeker.

Her team has so far excavated just a small part of the enclosure, finding postholes and a number of pits.

“The pits contained numerous flint flakes,” Rohde Sloth said. “Some pits also held ceramic sherds and axe fragments.”

Bio-Hybrid Robots Could Grow Organs

Scientists have been experimenting with growing human tissue in the laboratory for years, but if we are to ever grow entire bones or organs for transplant it is going to be necessary to scale things up quite significantly – conventional Petri dishes are never going to be up to the task.

Now two scientists from Oxford University have proposed a rather novel solution to this problem by suggesting that we could build humanoid robots capable of growing organs inside their bodies.

These bio-hybrid machines could potentially replicate some of the conditions within the human body to provide a warm, moist environment in which replacement tissue could be grown. Structures within these robots could also mimic the architecture within our own bodies, thus promoting the growth of ready-shaped tendons, bones and cartilage for use in transplants.

“There is no better bioreactor than the human body itself,” said tissue engineer and study co-author Pierre Mouthuy. “So the better we can copy that environment, the better our chances to obtain functional engineered tissues are going to be.”

Death isn’t something we like to think about, but it’s something every one of us will experience. Few thoughts fill us with as much fear and dread. It’s easy to lie awake at night wondering what it will be like. Will it hurt? Will we be scared? Will there be release or just panic and pain?

Until it happens to us, we won’t know what comes after our last breath escapes. But we can get a pretty good idea of every moment leading up to it. There are people who have gone to the brink of death and back and who wrote down every sensation they felt along the way.

Expanded Perspectives: Beyond Boggy Creek

On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show off talking about how Brazil’s elusive tree boa, Corallus cropanii — also known as Cropan’s boa — is one of the world’s rarest boas, infrequently sighted and known from only a handful of dead specimens collected after the snake was first seen and described in 1953. However, the species is alive and well, scientists recently discovered.

Then, according to a number of reports, a photograph reputedly of a reptilian alien taken outside of Luke Air Force Base was posted to 4chan on Thursday. Within minutes, the entire website was allegedly taken offline and all copies of the photograph mysteriously disappeared, except for one. According to various accounts, an anonymous thread titled “24489 Taken Aprox 24 miles north west of Luke Airforce Base Phoenix Az. Lab H4C” was begun between on 4chan’s /pol/ board between 12am and 2am on February 23rd. It included a picture of an alien which was said to have yellow scales, black eyes and small pursed lips and was looking directly at the camera in a classic selfie pose. Reports say the thread was only up for a few minutes before 4chan went offline. When it returned, all traces of the photo and thread were gone. Then, a Pennsylvania construction worker says he photographed an unknown creature he believes “had the exact marks” of the Jersey Devil.

After the break the guys chat with researcher, author and staff writer for Rue Morgue magazine Lyle Blackburn about his latest book, “Beyond Boggy Creek.“
