Welcome to the Inaugural Edition of The /x/ Files, the new weekly digest for 4chan’s Paranormal board. Every Sunday, we will be taking a quick snapshot of the mysterious world around us and bringing it to the board, in the interests of discussion and improving the general state of /x/. I am your Editor, the anonymous creator of this idea and collector of the news that will be following below. In the interests of legitimacy, I will be using a secure tripcode to post the thread; once the posts are completed, I will take the tripcode off and return to my anonymity, just to put aside the fears of any of you faggots who think I’m gonna be tripfagging all over the thread.

Paranormal News of the Week
King Tut’s tomb yields possible hidden room
First put forward by British archaeologist Nicholas Reeves, the idea that there could be a hidden chamber somewhere within the tomb of King Tutankhamen has been gaining a significant amount of interest in recent months.
Last month the Egyptian Antiquities Ministry finally authorized the use of scanning equipment within the tomb to look for evidence of hidden rooms and now, following initial infrared scans of the burial chamber, archaeologists believe that they might have actually found something.
Minister of Antiquities Mandouh el-Damaty has revealed that part of the tomb’s northern wall appears to exhibit a different temperature to the rest of the tomb – a discrepancy which could indicate the presence of a hidden chamber that has been sealed away since antiquity.
Newly discovered SOS distress telegram from Titanic proves owners knew ship was in distress and sinking
White Star Line, owners of the Titanic ship, have long refuted hearing anything from the sinking Titanic on the day it sank. In fact, Philip Franklin, the head of White Star Line, swore an oath to a US Congressional hearing swearing he had not received any word from the ship after it struck an iceberg that drove it to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean claiming the lives of 1,523 passengers and crew. Today a distress telegram from the Titanic has been revealed. The desperate message, sent via communications company Western Union, reads:
“To Mr. P.A. Franklin, White Star Steamship Co. 9 Broadway, NYC. CQD, CQD SOS SOS= From MGY (RMS Titanic). We have struck iceberg. Sinking fast. Come to our assistance. Position: Lat 41.46 N. Lon 50.14 W. MGY.”
The historic document has been unknown for 103 years until it was listed for auction by a seller who inherited it from his cousin (a collector of antique radio and telegraphic equipment). The documentation that came with the telegram only goes back 20 years; it was found in an envelope from 1988 bearing the written message: “This is 86 years old.” Heritage Auctions has verified the authenticity of the document.
Indonesia to use crocodiles as prison guards
Not content with the potential for death row drug inmates to escape by bribing the guards, Indonesia’s anti-drugs agency has put forward plans to build a radical new type of prison.
Unlike conventional jails however, this one will be replacing human guards with crocodiles.
“We will place as many crocodiles as we can there,” said anti-drugs chief Budi Waseso who plans to scour the archipelago for the reptiles. “I will search for the most ferocious type of crocodile.”
Man films the ground ‘breathing in and out’
Filmed on a mobile phone by Brian Nuttall at Apple River in Nova Scotia, the strange phenomenon creates the impression that the forest is ‘breathing’ in and out in an eerily rhythmic manner.
The footage has been viewed over three million times since appearing on social media and has been described as “creepy and scary” with some users unwilling to even watch to the end.
40 school kids collapse due to mass hysteria
A bizarre wave of anxiety caused several dozen pupils at a school in North Yorkshire to fall unconscious. The incident, which occurred at Outwood academy in Ripon, made headline news after reports suggested that chemical fumes or a gas leak might have been making the students ill.
When fire crews and specialist hazardous substance teams attended the scene however it was quickly determined that no noxious chemicals were present and that the children had instead suffered a ‘ripple effect’ of nausea and faintness.
Most distant object in our solar system found
Astronomers have discovered a dwarf planet located three times further away from the sun than Pluto. Known as V774104, this tiny world exists at the very edge of our solar system where it lurks in the cold and darkness over 100 times further out than the distance from the Earth to the sun.
It was picked up back in October by astronomer Scott Sheppard and his colleagues who were utilizing the Subaru telescope in Hawaii to search for distant objects orbiting the sun.
NASA confirms that the ‘impossible’ EmDrive thruster really works, after new tests
Isaac Newton should be sweating.
Flying in the face of traditional laws of physics, the EmDrive makes use of a magnetron and microwaves to create a propellant-less propulsion system. By pushing microwaves into a closed, truncated cone and back towards the small end of said cone, the drive creates the momentum and force necessary to propel a craft forward. Because the system is a reaction-less drive, it goes against humankind’s fundamental comprehension of physics, hence its controversial nature. Despite all the reasons it shouldn’t work, it does. And NASA just confirmed it.
Half of world’s rare antelope population died within weeks
Scientists are struggling to explain the mass die-off of at least 150,000 endangered saiga antelopes in Kazakhstan during a two week period earlier this year. Known for their distinctive cylindrical snout, bulging eyes and curled horns as well as their ability to survive dramatic changes in temperature, the animals are one of the most endangered species on the planet. Before the most recent die-off, the estimated population was between 250,000 and 320,000. The die-off has only occurred in the plains of Kazakhstan, where 90% of the global population resides.
“This is not really normal for a biological system. It’s bizarre, extremely rare and doesn’t make a lot of sense. Usually in a system, a proportion die and get sick,” said Professor Richard Kock from the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London.
Haunted Former Mental Asylum For Sale in Michigan
The real estate listing for the Eloise Complex in Westland, Michigan, mentions that it backs up to an 18-hole championship golf course but not that golfers might find their backswing interrupted by the moans and screams of the ghosts of former patients of this one-time mental hospital.
As with many facilities from the 1800s that housed the poor, the sick and the mentally ill, many people were abandoned there, lived in pain and destitution and died horrible deaths alone, only to be buried in unmarked graves in the Eloise Cemetery.
For a mere $1.5 million, you can own the five-story, 150,000-square-foot main building and 50 acres of “Beautiful land with almost a half mile of frontage along Michigan Avenue.”
Just for Fun: Meteorite Vodka
The recently launched Outer Space Vodka is a neutral multi-distilled spirit made from midwest American grain that claims to have been filtered through “meteorites more than 4 billion years old” and is “best enjoyed by earthlings when released from a cryogenic freezer.” Whether that statement is true or not, Outer Space Vodka does come in a really cool alien head bottle that is made from thick green glass and is a neat standout object amongst all the tall bottles on a bar.

I want to extend a thank you to the community on the Paranormal board here on 4chan. I’ve been lurking here since 2008, and while it isn’t my home board anymore, it still holds a special place in my heart, and is in the top five boards I frequent on here. We can kill the cancer, /x/, if we work together.
As I said in my initial post a week ago, I’m open to suggestions as to what content you’d like to see included each week. I was considering the possibility of including horror film/tv news, and possibly horror video game stuff as well. What would you like to see? What could I improve? Is there room for contributions from other Anons? This is a labor of love, but it’s one that requires perserverence to keep doing, week in and week out. I hope I have that, /x/. You’re worth the effort.
